KAI ANTON BERGMAN, born in Helsinki, Finland in 1986, embarked on his artistic journey early in life, nurtured by his nanny and mother. Even as a child, during voyages on a Helsinki-Stockholm cruise ship where his father worked, he developed a deep affection for colorful board markers and expansive paper canvases, igniting a lifelong passion for creative expression.
Growing up amid the vibrant graffiti scene of 1990s Helsinki, Bergman was inspired by the underground hip hop culture that permeated the capital region. Embracing this energy, he began crafting his own graffiti sketches, laying the foundation for a distinctive artistic style rooted in urban culture and youthful rebellion.
Bergman pursued formal art education in Finland, initially drawn to design. However, finding the curriculum overly conservative, he gravitated instead toward the art studio, where influential teachers guided him to embrace the full scope of artistic possibility. This pivotal experience helped him discover his true passion and artistic identity.
Committed to pushing boundaries, Bergman continually explores unconventional styles. He believes that βArt should be strange and complex,β striving to encapsulate a bold, quirky and detailed vision of the future. His work invites viewers into a richly imagined world, revealing the untamed creativity at the heart of his practice.
